Businesses Opinion on the Civic Centre Proposals Wanted

Posted on Friday 20th October, 2017 by

Businesses are being invited to a briefing after the Council received the final reports on its plans to invest in a new town centre development.

Following a series of earlier briefings for local businesses, the Council is to host a further event at 8.30am on Wednesday 1 November in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall, focusing on plans to develop a 1,200 seat theatre, civic centre, commercial offices to let and an underground car park on the edge of Calverley Grounds.

The event is open to all businesses based in the borough, including members of Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Small Businesses and West Kent Chamber of Commerce, plus members of Royal Tunbridge Wells Together.

Cabinet Member Cllr Tracy Moore, who is leading on the community engagement for the civic centre proposals, said: “The role that business plays in providing jobs in the town is vital, whether in retail, leisure or office-based companies.

“This is a massive project for the borough and we want to get it right. It is really important that the views of business are heard and we look forward to welcoming as many of them as possible to the briefing.”

The Council will be making the decision as to whether to proceed with a planning application at the meeting of Full Council on 6 December.

The Council will also be undertaking a series of community engagement events for residents and businesses alike, including roadshows on:
