UK firms investing more in intangible assets

UK firms invested 9% more in intangible assets in 2014 than in traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ assets, research from the Intellectual Property Office has revealed. The total amount spent on intangible assets during the year, including spend on research and development, was £133 billion. The proportion of UK firms’ intangible assets covered by intellectual property rights increased from 50% in 2011 to 53% in 2014.
